Where Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, and Ericsson each tend to fit
There's no single "correct" vendor -- the right choice depends on your network layer and scale. As a general pattern: Cisco and Juniper are common choices for core and edge routing/switching in ISP and VNO networks; Nokia and Ericsson show up more often in access-network and broader telecom infrastructure contexts. Most operators end up running more than one vendor across different layers of the network, which is normal and not a sign of poor planning.
Hardware is only part of the stack
Physical network equipment needs to be paired with the right operational software -- billing and subscriber management (OSS/BSS), lawful interception capability, and network monitoring tools -- to actually run a compliant, sellable service. This is why hardware procurement and software deployment tend to be planned together rather than sequentially: choosing a network platform without confirming it plays well with your billing and compliance stack is one of the more common (and expensive) mistakes new operators make.
